Head to Sumoto onsen in the eastern part of Awaji Island while enjoying a drive with your family. The scenery from the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, which connects Honshu and Awaji Island, is truly spectacular. The scenery of the sea and the sea breeze will heal your heart, and your expectations for the inn will increase.

Standing on the cape of Sumoto onsen, Shimahana is an ocean view hotel overlooking the Kitan Straits. Located in "Suntopia Marina" lined with palm trees and cruisers, it's a perfect resort feeling ♪ When you arrive, check in at the atrium lobby.

There are 50 diverse guest rooms, including guest rooms with open-air hot onsen baths, dog-friendly villas, and cruiser cabins. There are also rooms with kitchens and theaters, so you can choose according to the age of the child and the taste of the family.
I stayed in a room called "Harbor Twin". The room has a good balance of Japanese and Western styles, and you can see "Suntopia Marina" from the window!

The hotel has plenty of facilities to refresh you. There is a summer-only outdoor pool, a lounge where you can play darts and soccer games, and a library where you can enjoy reading and PCs. There is also a kids room that is great for families with children.
After changing into the hotel's yukata, the three of us as a family spent a relaxing time in the room. We took a lot of pictures and made memories.

Dinner with island seasonal vegetables
For dinner, we will have a kaiseki course using seasonal vegetables from Awaji Island at "Restaurant Uminami". Savor the ingredients unique to this place, such as sakura sea bream, spiny lobster, 3-year tiger puffer fish, and specially selected beef. If you are a meat lover, we recommend trying charcoal-grilled meat at Shimaho.
We had a course at a meal in a private room. I was grateful for the private room because I have a 0-year-old daughter. The menu was delicious with both fish and meat.

In the private onsen open-air bath
A moment without family
After dinner, it's onsen time. In the private bath on the 6th floor, you can use the Jacuzzi open onsen spring bath and the bedrock bath without having to enter the water. You can also visit the large public baths of the group hotels “Spa Terrace Suigetsu” and “Awaji Yumesenkei” ◎
After relaxing in the room, I went to the private bath. There was also a bedrock bath, which was very fulfilling.

The beauty of the ocean dyed in the morning sun that you can see from the observatory large public bath "Ten" will warm your heart. After getting warmed up in the water of Sumoto onsen, relax in the massage chair in the after-bath lounge♡
I got up early and went to the large public bath with my wife. The view from the observatory bathroom was amazing!

Luxurious breakfast buffet
Breakfast is a Japanese and Western buffet. There are about 40 items on the menu that are particular about local products, such as rolled eggs from Awaji Island, fresh vegetable salad, boiled whitebait, and Awaji Island beef bowl. How about a cup of “Awajishima Naruto Orange” juice to wake you up?
The buffet was very rich and satisfying. The beef bowl made with Awaji onions is especially delicious!

Don't forget to take a photo before checking out. The site is full of photo spots, such as the poolside and open deck terrace. The view of the exotic marina and the blue waters of the Kitan Strait will surely make for wonderful memories.

After leaving the hotel, go to Awaji Island sightseeing. The famous flower spot "Awaji Hanasajiki", "Nijigen no Mori" where you can jump into the world of manga, the resort "Awaji Yumebutai" designed by Tadao Ando... Make memories at an exciting spot that makes the most of the grandeur of nature♪
We went strawberry picking at "GREENARIUM Awajishima" and enjoyed a walk at "Nijigen no Mori"♪

The coastal road was beautiful. We ate lunch at the service area "Awaji Highway Oasis", and the ingredients from Awaji were so delicious!
