Life with children is fun, but things often don't go as planned and it can be stressful. In such a case, why not take the whole family on a trip? Home to the World Heritage Sites Kumano Kodo and Ise Jingu, Mie has the image of being a tourist destination for adults, but the whole family can enjoy fun there with Toba Aquarium, Shima Spain Village, and Suzuka Circuit. Lots of spots too. This time, we will introduce hotels in Mie that welcome families with children, offering rooms with open-air baths, baby goods rentals, and a kids' corner.
table of contents
Mie is known for its mysterious power spots, including the world heritage site Kumano Kodo and Ise Jingu. Furthermore, there are many sightseeing spots that parents and children can enjoy together, such as Toba Aquarium, which has the largest number of aquariums in Japan, theme parks such as Shima Spain Village, and Iga, which is also known as the village of ninjas. It is also full of local gourmet foods such as spiny lobster and Matsusaka beef.
When traveling with children, the amount of luggage increases rapidly, and there are many things to worry about, such as meal, baths, and sleeping. This time, we have selected hotels in Mie that have rooms with open-air baths, as well as hotels that have plenty of facilities and services for children. Please lighten your luggage and mind and go out with your family.
HOTEL & RESORTS ISE SHIMA is located on a hill in Mie, a beautiful ria coastline in Shima, Mie Prefecture. It is in a great location, about 5 minutes by car from Shima Spain Village. There is also an accommodation plan that includes an admission ticket to Toba Aquarium, which is about a 30-minute drive from the hotel. The pool, which is only open in the summer, also has a kids pool with a depth of 30cm, so you don't have to worry about bringing your kids with you!
The "Kids Room" was born from the idea of a hotel staff who was raising children. The floor is made of cork, so it doesn't hurt when you crawl. The bed is a Hollywood type where the family can sleep in the shape of a river. In the "Kids Room", there are toothbrushes for children, baby soap, baby wipes, and baby bottle sterilizers, so you can reduce your luggage. There are also bed guards and baby gates, so you can stay comfortably.
For families who love ice cream, we recommend the collaboration room with Imuraya, Mie 's leading company. There are ice cream-shaped goods in the room, and you can eat all-you-can-eat ice cream in the freezer! Just looking at a freezer full of ice cream makes you happy. Please be careful not to eat too much. The collaboration room can accommodate up to 4 people.
Blessed with seafood, Shima was once one of the ``Miketsukuni'' regions that provided food to the imperial family and court. The best part of this hotel is that you can enjoy delicious food that can only be found in Mitokutsu-kuni in a buffet style for both breakfast and dinner. The dinner buffet features a variety of menu items, including seasonal local dishes such as ``bonito chazuke'' and ``wakame shabu-shabu,'' as well as cheese fondue and roast beef. There is also a kids menu and baby chairs available at the buffet, so don't worry.

Kumano no Yado Umihikari is located on a hill overlooking the Kumano Sea. This inn is also a popular base for walking around the world heritage site, Kumano Kodo. You can enjoy the magnificent Kumano Sea from the large communal bath where you can enjoy hot water from Kumano onsen that gushes out from within the grounds, and enjoy a moment where you can wash away all the fatigue from childcare and travel. The entire building is non-smoking except for the smoking rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors, so it's safe for babies.
There are 15 tatami family rooms, 6 tatami, 8 tatami, and 10 tatami Japanese rooms, so you can choose according to the size of your family. There are also ``Triple Rooms'' and ``Special Rooms'' with a blend of Japanese and Western styles, which are rooms where you can spend a relaxing time. All guests are equipped with room temperature water, toilets with flush toilet seats, and air purifiers. There's also an electric kettle, insect repellent, and DVD player, so it's a good idea to bring your favorite anime. You can also rent Othello and playing cards for free.
Dinner is a Kaiseki meal featuring fresh seafood delivered directly from the Kumano Sea. For children, we also have ``Children's Kaiseki''. The next morning after a good night's sleep, you'll be ready for some healthy Japanese food. The all-you-can-eat Kumano dried fish, local pickles, and egg-cooked rice are exquisite! Both adults and children should eat plenty of it and use it as energy for the day.
There is a kids room on the first floor of the hotel so that you can enjoy rainy days and free time. Go from the slide to the ball pool! There is also a manga room on the first floor, with over 3,000 manga and over 300 DVDs. There is also a karaoke room (reservation required), which is free for one hour. I also enjoy karaoke competitions with my family.

``Resort Kumano Club'' is nestled in nature, surrounded by mountains, sea, and countryside, connecting Ise Grand Shrine and the world heritage site ``Kumano Kodo''. The vast grounds include a reception desk, shop, workshop, and hot springs, and all 40 guest rooms are all suites. Because it is all-inclusive, you can enjoy a luxurious time without worrying about your wallet, such as afternoon tea and free drinks at dinner.
At ``The Club Lounge Yasuragi-no-Za'', we will be holding a stargazing event with commentary from a starry sky guide. You can spend a relaxing adult time enjoying your favorite alcohol while looking at the starry night sky. Be impressed by the star-filled sky, which is hard to see in the city!
The rooms are made of Kumano cedar, and the scent and texture of nature will soothe you when you spend time in your room. This is Shingetsu-an, a detached suite with an open-air bath. This type of room has an indoor bath as well as a semi-open-air bath on the balcony. The low bed creates a sense of unity between the bedroom and living room, and you can rest assured that you can keep an eye on your child no matter where they are.
Dinner consists of three courses: ``Kaiseki full of the flavors of Kumano,'' ``Miketsukuni Kaiseki,'' and ``Half buffet with oven-roasted spiny lobster.'' All of them feature luxurious dishes that allow you to fully enjoy the blessings of Kumano. For families with children, we recommend the half buffet where you can enjoy as many dishes as you want. The next morning, wake up refreshed with dried fish, a nutritious salad, and 100% Kumano mandarin juice.
``Tengou Yudokoro Yuyoku Mibokko'' located on the premises uses onsen water from Shinyu no Kuchi Onsen. The open-air bath boasts an open feeling of looking up at the sky and a spacious bathtub. Both the indoor and outdoor baths have tatami floors throughout, making them safe for small children. After your bath, try the local Ouchiyama milk.
