Shinanami onsen is located on a hilltop overlooking the townscape of Shimanto, known as "Tosa's Little Kyoto." The spring quality is a hypotonic, weakly alkaline spring, which is said to be effective in relieving neuralgia and fatigue. The view that can only be enjoyed from the high ground is also attractive, and the colors of the sky at dusk and sunrise are said to be particularly fantastical and mystical. It is also recommended as a base for strolling around Shimanto City, activities on the Shimanto River, and sightseeing at Cape Ashizuri.
Located on a hilltop near a mountain castle, Nagomi-yado Anjyuan is a quiet hideaway for adults. It is about a 10-minute taxi ride from Nakamura Station on the Tosa Kuroshio Railway. The interior, with its natural materials and antique feel, has a retro atmosphere, making you feel at home. From the guest rooms and onsen, you can see the Shimanto River below. You can enjoy the different onsen, including the stone-built Sanka-no-yu and the wood-inspired Komorebi-no-yu.

The Shimanto River, where untouched nature still remains, is widely known as "Japan's last clear river." The "Shimanto onsen" that springs here springs from a well excavated 800 meters underground in the bedrock of the Shimanto Ceramic Belt, which is said to have high energy vibrations. The spring is a sodium-calcium chloride cold spring, which is said to be effective for beautiful skin and relieving fatigue. Because it contains a lot of iron, it oxidizes in the bathtub, turning the water into a viscous amber color.
Yamamizuki, located on the west bank of the mouth of the Shimanto River where it flows into the Pacific Ocean, is perched on a cliff about 60 meters above sea level, in a great location where you can see both the Shimanto River and the Pacific Ocean at the same time. It is about a 15-minute drive from Nakamura Station on the Tosa Kuroshio Railway. This is an open-air bath with water directly from the source. You can feel close to nature while soaking in the amber-colored onsen. There are also private baths available for couples, families, and groups.
There are five detached accommodation buildings on the premises that can be rented for private use, including one with a wooden deck terrace where you can have a barbecue, and one with an open-air Goemon bath. Glamping and camping are also available, so you can stay in the style that suits you. Although it is not as luxurious as a high-end hotel, it is an inn where you can enjoy nature without being overly fancy.
