About 15 minutes on foot from Kyoto Station, take a walk to "Umekoji Park". It is also recommended to enjoy the "Kyoto Railway Museum", one of the largest in Japan, and the "Kyoto Aquarium", an inland aquarium that uses completely artificial seawater. Stayed in May 2024

I arrived at Kyoto Station in the evening, so I went straight to the hotel, which was about a 15-minute walk from the station.

Check-in18:00

Arrive at hotel

feel the warmth of wood
Check in at the front desk

After passing through the beautiful straight-lined entrance, you will arrive at the bright lobby with large windows. Check in at the stylish front desk. After receiving an explanation of the facilities within the hotel, such as the "Awai no Ma," "Umekoji Sento Poteyu," and "Umekoji Fermentation Plant," you will head to your room.

Upon entering the hotel, I was greeted by a spacious lobby with high ceilings. It was very clean and nice.

Room18:10

Enjoy park view
Take a rest in your room

There are 144 guest rooms in total, and there are various types, such as Western-style rooms with terraces overlooking the park, and Japanese-style rooms surrounded by the warmth of wood. In the Japanese-style rooms, you can take off your shoes and relax. If you get tired of walking, you can lie down on the bed and take a rest.

I stayed in a garden twin room. There was Umekoji Park next to it, so the fresh greenery was beautiful and soothing. There was a table and chair by the window, which was perfect for working on the computer.

In a comfortable wooden space
Immerse yourself in books and music

Enjoy your time at your leisure in the "Awai no Ma" where you can find books, records, and board games. You can enjoy encountering various things that stimulate your senses. You can also take home the free draft beer and toast in your room.

The library has a wide range of facilities, including a corner filled with books selected by a book sommelier, a space to enjoy recorded music, and a free space where you can try original blend coffee.

Dinner20:00

In-house and dining out
Enjoying the Nightlife in Kyoto

Why not make a reservation at the hotel restaurant and enjoy an elegant dinner? The new-style banquet uses ingredients associated with Kyoto, and the plates and chopsticks are also carefully selected. There is also an a la carte menu. There are also many restaurants in the area, so you can eat out as well.

I went out to eat and had the hand-kneaded ramen noodles at Ken Ramen, a restaurant about a five-minute walk from the hotel. They were light but rich and delicious.

Spa22:00

nostalgic yet new
Public bath experience at Poteyu

On the first floor, there is the "Umekoji Sento Poteyu" where you can relax and enjoy a bath. Please note the paintings by a public bath artist. In addition, the amenities are from Kyoto and come in sustainable bottles and refills.

In the evening, I went to the public bath in the hotel and enjoyed the sauna. The bath was modeled after an old-fashioned public bath, and was retro and cute.

the 2nd day

Freetime07:00

First coffee of the morning
Enjoy a cup of bliss

When you wake up in the morning, relax in your room with a free drink of coffee. The drip coffee made from carefully selected beans is exceptional! There is also a rooftop terrace in the building, so enjoying your coffee while looking at the pleasant morning sky will be a wonderful memory.

sakura_giorno

I brought the free coffee to my room and did a little work. Working outside my room was refreshing, and the greenery of the park next to my room was beautiful, which helped me concentrate.

Breakfast08:00

Feel like Kyoto
Obanzai Buffet

The breakfast buffet offers a wide variety of choices, including a wide variety of side dishes, grilled fish cooked over charcoal right in front of you, rice from Kyoto, Kyoto pickles, and more. There are also Western-style dishes such as curry, bread, and desserts, so you'll want to try both Japanese and Western dishes.

In the morning, we had a buffet at the hotel.

Depart from hotel

Enjoy inside
Check out at 11am

Until check-out, you can flip through Kyoto guidebooks in the "Awai-no-ma". When you find a place you want to go, make a note on your smartphone. I haven't spent enough time in the hotel yet, but it's time to leave.

sakura_giorno

I asked if I could store my luggage after checking out so that I could go sightseeing, and they gladly agreed.

Sightseeing12:00

It takes about 30 minutes by train and on foot from the inn to the cafe.

Relax in the teahouse
tea time

After checking out, head out for sightseeing. You can see historical buildings or go on a Kyoto-style cafe crawl. In one corner of the townhouse "KYO AMAHARE," lined with utensils and tea ceremony utensils, you'll find the teahouse "Iame." You can spend a quiet moment here with a sweet treat.

sakura_giorno

The teahouse "Iame/KYO" located inside "AMAHARE" has an extraordinary atmosphere, and the tea and sweets are both delicious, so I definitely recommend you go there!

Return trip14:00

Relaxing alone time
2 days to relax

Enjoy a one-night, two-day trip to Kyoto at a unique hotel with full facilities. Time passes quickly in the beautiful hall where wood is used everywhere. Relaxing and rich alone time is perfect for nourishing the mind.

sakura_giorno

There are plenty of places to enjoy outside the room, so I felt it was a good place for solo travelers as well as those traveling with friends or family.
