Heading from Tokyo, it takes about 2 hours to drive while looking at the sea along Sagami Bay. Arrive at Yugawara where you can feel the sea and nature close to you. Enjoy leisurely sightseeing such as "Yugawara Plum Grove" where the season of plum and cherry blossoms is beautiful, and "Manyo Park" which is a standard spot in onsen town.

"Mugitoro Doji" is an old folk house by the sea. This is a restaurant where you can enjoy grated yam, tuna, salmon roe, eel, etc., while gazing at the magnificent view of the vast ocean and sky. Because it is a popular store, a line is inevitable. Please have a nice lunchtime with time to spare.

Arrive at ryokan through the forest on the hill. Once you step inside, you will be impressed by the beauty of the design award-winning architecture! Check in gracefully with a welcome drink in the lobby with a basin and bar. It's like getting lost in an art museum.
I checked in around 16:00. Looking at the impactful exterior and the spacious and lovely lobby, I am really looking forward to my time at the inn.

There are 17 guest rooms and 3 types. All rooms are equipped with free-flowing open-air baths, and you can feel the whispering of the trees up close. If you relax on the beds and sofas designed by furniture designer Keiichi Shimoda, you will have a relaxing time.
Stayed at "Sansui". The handmade sweets, drinks, and amenities in the room are also very substantial, and I felt that the service was thorough.

I relaxed in the open-air bath in the room I was looking for. The time spent soaking in the wonderful oval-shaped open-air bath, looking at the trees, and listening to the chirping of birds was truly soothing.

A creative course that you can enjoy with your eyes
The creative course that combines Japanese and Italian ingredients allows you to fully enjoy the seasonal flavors of Yugawara. We use plenty of natural local fish from the nearby sea and ingredients that are particular about the production area, and are beautifully presented. Relax and enjoy with chopsticks.
We had a delicious creative Japanese course at the restaurant. I really enjoyed the ingredients and cooking methods used.

Have a drink in a beautiful bar
After dinner, have a toast at a fantastic bar with flickering lights. Non-alcoholic drinks are also available, so even those who can't drink alcohol are fine. Children of elementary school age and younger cannot stay at this inn for adults, so you can enjoy quiet evening conversations.

If you get up early, take an open-air bath in the morning light. Bathing in onsen while enjoying the refreshing scent of trees is exceptional. If you feel like walking a bit, take a walk to the lobby lounge and enjoy the forest view from the large windows.
I took an open-air bath before breakfast. The morning sun was very pleasant and it was very refreshing.

Healthy Japanese meal
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the restaurant on the top floor. A Japanese set meal full of seafood and mountain delicacies is healthy and gentle. There is also a menu that women will be happy with, such as kumi yuba and yogurt mousse. You can charge your energy for the day.
I had Japanese food. There are many original menus, and I enjoyed it as much as dinner. The sweet sake yogurt mousse for dessert was very delicious.

Yugawara Souyu, located near Manyo Park, is a facility where you can enjoy onsen and meal on a day trip. You can enjoy a comfortable space in nature. On the entrance terrace, you can eat sweets and relax while enjoying the scenery. Why not stop by at the end of your trip?
To the newly opened "Yugawara Soyu". I went to onsen again, had a delicious meal, and finally ate a sweet bean paste butter sandwich on a bench by the river.

Lunch at ``Mugitoro Doji''. I ordered a salmon roe bowl with grated yam on top. The set crab soup was very delicious and I was very satisfied.
