Monjusou Shourotei

Monjusou Shorotei

Kyoto / Miyazu/ ryokan

Relax in the Aso Sea and gardens. The only luxury ryokan in Amanohashidate Quasi-National Park

“Monjusou Shorotei” stands close to “Amanohashidate”, one of the three most scenic spots in Japan. You can overlook the lush garden and the Aso Sea from your room. The entire building is a one-storied sukiya-zukuri, which is rare, and the architectural design of Kyoto carpenters is also attractive. The kaiseki cuisine, which uses wild vegetables from Tango and seafood from the Sea of Japan, is rich in creativity and will make your mouth feel better. Relax to your heart's content in the open-air bath that draws water from Amanohashidate onsen.

Experience

Forget time at a famous inn in Amanohashidate
Two days and one night onsen trip with my mother

A woman who visited Amanohashidate with her mother will introduce how she spent her time when she actually stayed at Monjusou Shorotei.

First day

Start13:00

Searching for Kyoto by the Sea
To Tango's Amanohashidate

Let's do some sightseeing around the inn. Amanohashidate is one of the three most scenic spots in Japan along with Matsushima and Miyajima. About 5,000 pine trees line the 3.6km long sandbar. My cousin wants to eat the famous rice cake of wisdom at a nearby teahouse, but please be patient until you get to the inn.

Check-in15:00

Arrive at the inn

Quietly in Amanohashidate
Kotei like a hideout

Located in the Tango Amanohashidate Oeyama Quasi-National Park, the sukiya-zukuri building has the atmosphere of a teahouse. The warmth of wood overflows, and you can see the garden and Amanohashidate from the lobby. You can relax with the hospitality of the famous chie mochi and matcha.

Since there are few rooms, everything was prepared and the check-in process was quick and smooth. Amanohashidate's famous rice cake of wisdom was delicious.

indulge in nostalgia
Rooms with a view of Amanohashidate

The whole building is a one-story sukiya-zukuri style, and you can enjoy a panoramic view of Amanohashidate from the guest rooms. You can go out to the garden from all guest rooms, and your heart will soften. There are a wide range of Japanese-style rooms, from 8-tatami Japanese-style rooms to special rooms of 18 tatami mats or more.

marimarijabberwocky

I stayed in a Japanese-style room with an 8 tatami mat room called "Matsukoto" where you can see Amanohashidate from the room and the next room. It was a luxurious room with a view of Amanohashidate over the well-maintained garden.

Onsen16:00

Amanohashidate onsen in an open-air bath

The large communal bath has an indoor bath and an open-air bath made of Koya maki, which draws on Amanohashidate onsen, and can be bathed separately for men and women. The spring quality is a sodium chloride spring with a slightly salty taste, and the good thing about it is that it doesn't get cold after bathing. The sweet drink service after the bath is also nice.

Enjoying the hot water of Amanohashidate onsen, I went to soak in the large public bath.

Dinner18:00

Kyo-kaiseki in your room
Gastronomy of Tango and the Sea of Japan

For dinner, you can enjoy creative kaiseki cuisine in your room. Tango's edible wild plants in spring, conger eel in summer, matsutake mushrooms in autumn, and crab and puffer fish in winter. The food that makes you feel "Kyoto by the sea" is also pleasing to the palate.

marimarijabberwocky

Dinner was a kaiseki meal including the inn's specialty, "crab miso fondue". All the dishes were delicate and delicious.

the 2nd day

Morning06:30

Strolling around Amanohashidate in the morning
clean air is delicious

Early morning "Amanohashidate" is less crowded, so it's perfect for a morning walk. Let's cross while enjoying the scenery to the opposite bank. The air is clear and divine in the morning, and I feel like I can get some power. Walking will make your breakfast more delicious.

Breakfast08:00

Leisurely breakfast in your room
Dishes unique to Kyoto

A breakfast of Kyoto-style healthy dishes, such as miso soup with short-necked clams caught in the Aso Sea, and Tango red rice, which seems to be auspicious. You can relax in your room. Fresh juice and freshly made black sugar syrup are also popular with many repeaters.

marimarijabberwocky

The pine needle juice served before breakfast was so delicious that it was soothing to the body. Kudzu rice porridge was served for breakfast. It was a menu that seems to be healthy from the body.

Check-out10:00

leave the inn

spent in a flat
2 days of luxury

A one-story all-wood structure, which is now rare. Let's say goodbye to the two days of the luxury of doing nothing in a space reminiscent of good old Japan. It would be nice to take a walk in the garden until 10:00 check-out, or relax in onsen until the last minute.

The day before, Mr. Nakai told me about nearby sightseeing spots and kindly sent me off to see the sights without leaving my car.

Sightseeing10:30

Don't forget to peep your crotch.
Sightseeing around "Amanohashidate"

"Amanohashidate View Land" in Mt. Monju Park is an amusement park at the top of the mountain, which can be easily accessed by lift. You can see Amanohashidate from the observatory, so we recommend taking a commemorative photo here. Don't forget the "crotch peep" spot.

marimarijabberwocky

I went to "Chionji" where ryokan is built, and "Amanohashidate View Land" where you can look into Amanohashidate.

Return trip16:00

Another trip to Kyoto
To the Tango Peninsula that embraces the sea

Miyazu City is home to one of the three most scenic spots in Japan, Amanohashidate, and the historic Chionji and Monjudo temples, making it a place where you can discover new charms of Kyoto. Stay at an inn with a view of "Amanohashidate" and enjoy onsen and food to your heart's content.
