"Shinshu Matsumoto Hotel Shoho" is located on a hill in Matsumoto City. You can see the castle town Matsumoto and the magnificent Northern Alps from all rooms. From Tokyo to Nagano, you can enjoy a driving trip of about 3 hours. After arriving in Matsumoto City, head to the symbol of Matsumoto Castle. For lunch, enjoy Shinshu soba made with homemade flour at the soba restaurant "Yamato" located right next to Matsumoto Castle.

I traveled by car from Tokyo. Speaking of Shinshu, soba is synonymous with soba, so I had tempura soba at Yamato. Since it's summer, there was also lemon-flavored soba♪

About 10 minutes by car from Matsumoto Castle, there is a hotel with a castle town-like black wall. Check in at the lobby first. The beautiful scenery of the Northern Alps that can be seen beyond the lobby's large windows will take your breath away.

When I arrived at the hotel entrance, I was greeted by several staff members. I was given a map to the room and there was a polite explanation, so I could go to the room without hesitation.

Stayed at Nishi-no-Yakata "Twin Room with onsen Spring Observation Bath". The room has a bath with a view, and I was healed by soaking in the bath while watching the best view from the top floor.

There are 3 meal in the hotel. "Shunsai Dining Shinshu" where you can enjoy the delicacies of Shinshu's mountain villages, "Kamikochi" where you can enjoy conversation in a private room, and "Kihachi" where there are many local sake and local dishes. Choose a place for dinner according to your mood at that time.

I got it at Shunsai Dining Shinshu. Get excited with the appetizer roast beef! Shinshu beef sirloin wine shabu-shabu was also impressive, and the meat melted ^ ^

There are 7 baths in the hotel, and you can enjoy an open-air bath, a private bath, a large public bath, a jacuzzi, and a footbath. If you soak in the hot water of Utsukushigahara onsen, you can expect effects such as sensitivity to cold and recovery from fatigue.

The view open-air bath has a sense of unity with the sky that can be seen from the window, so I forgot the time and relaxed in it! It was the best luxury because it was reserved during a time when there were few other users.

After waking up, enjoy a morning bath. It is also recommended to spend a leisurely time in the footbath, which is available from 6:00 a.m. while admiring the superb view of the Northern Alps. Your blood circulation will improve and you may wake up refreshed.

The footbath also has a nice view and I was able to spend a relaxing time. On the way to breakfast, I stopped by the terrace and enjoyed the scenery unique to the morning, which is different from the evening ^ ^

Breakfast is at "Shunsai Dining Shinshu". It is a buffet style with about 40 kinds of Japanese and Western dishes, including Shinshu gourmet such as oyaki and nozawana. In the open kitchen, you can have freshly made omelettes and fried eggs made with Shinshu chicken eggs.

We had omelets and French toast that the chef made on the spot, and even had soba noodles in the morning! Personally, French toast was the best ♪

to learn deliciously

About 15 minutes by car from the inn, "Ishii Miso" offers a tour of the traditional Shinshu miso brewery, which is naturally brewed. Not only can you learn about the history of miso, but you can also taste miso soup and enjoy lunch.

I participated in a tour with lunch at "Ishii Miso". Shinshu miso pork soup and dumplings were delicious. After that, we had a candy making experience at "Yamaya Okamesho".
